Leo was recruited in the first ever draft for the youth team of Sada Cruzeiro, back  in 2010. He started his volleyball career in 2004 at Cruzeiro Esporte Clube´s volleyball school. He was a champion of the Superliga B with Sada Cruzeiro UNIFEMM in 2015 and received opportunities to work with the professional team. He won several youth titles, including the Metropolitano in 2014 , 2013 and 2012. In 2013, he won the Copa Olympico, and was named best striker. In 2012, he was Metropolitano and Copa Sesc champion, and runner-up of Copa Minas, again as the best striker. In 2011, he won the Copa Sesc. He has also played with the Brazilian team. He was a youth champion of South American in 2012, World Junior runner-up in 2013, and in 2014 a South American youth champion and a South American U22 champion.
