Silmar Antonio de Almeida, also known as Piá, was born in Boa Vista da Apraceida in the state of Parana, Brazil. He came from Volei Kirin, the runners-up of the Brazilian Super League. He is one of the three foreign players chosen for this season. He stands out for his experience, background and powerful attacks. From 2003 to 2005, he formed part of the national youth team and won a gold medal in the 2003 World Championship. He also won gold in the 2004 South American Championship. He won the 2004 Paulista Championship with BANESPA/MASTERCARD. During his career, he has played for the Panthers in Japan, Zalau in Romania and Piacenza in Italy, in addition to Montes Claros, Volei Futuro, Sada Cruzeiro, Banesco, Minas and in Qatar.
