Pablo Crer heads Bolívar comeback over Minas to keep Top 4 hopes alive

Crer shone above all on his side with 5 blocks and 3 aces out of a total of 13 points

Betim, Brazil, October 21, 2016 - Despite a 3-0 win would have been the best for them, Argentina’s Bolívar regrouped on time to overcome Minas Tenis Clube 3-1 (18-25, 25-29, 25-19, 25-22) and now they remain expectant until the end of Day 4 to see whether they make it into semifinals or not.

Middle-blocker Crer topped the charts on his side with 13 points, five of them being stuff blocks at a department where Bolívar downed Minas by a 14-7 margin. The host team had a good afternoon of Thiago Vanole, the game’s best scorer with 17 kills, while Cuban Yordan Bisset added 15.

After two straight-set losses, Minas finally found their tempo on the first set, with a great performance of the Thiago trio - setter Gelinski and spikers Wesz and Vanole did well to not only win that opening act, but also to award Trentino a semifinal spot as they lowered Bolívar’s set ratio.

A new story started then, one with Bolívar hastily reacting, headed by Australian Edgar and especially by Crer’s solid blocks and spicy serves. Minas deflated on the following three sets, as the leads for Bolívar happened quicker and Crer’s blocking count enhanced. Todor Aleksiev also joined the efforts to leave his side waiting for the result of Trentino v UPCN.
