“It was a perfect match” - Sada Cruzeiro coach Marcelo Méndez

A "terrific attitude" was also vital for Cruzeiro against Kazan according to Marcelo Méndez

Betim, Brazil, October 23, 2016 - Only one adjective properly fits the performance of Sada Cruzeiro against Zenit Kazan in the gold medal match: perfect. The defending champions had no obstacle on their way to the title and coach Marcelo Méndez used that word to praise his team's match.

William Arjona, Sada Cruzeiro captain: “The whole team was awesome. We had some ups and downs during the tournament, but today it was simply incredible. To bring down a powerful team like Kazan to a 25-15 doesn’t happen every day. This team has played 26 final matches in 29 tournaments, and has won 23 of those finals. We’re used to the decisive moments of a tournament; we feel comfortable and we enjoy them a lot. It’s one of the good things of keeping a group of players together for a long time.”

Marcelo Méndez, Sada Cruzeiro coach: “Our terrific attitude was the key to this victory over Kazan - the widest one against them in these years. We played really, really well. We had good tactics and we also excelled in attack, in serving, in defense. It was a perfect match. We are improving tournament after tournament, we keep on growing and after so many final matches, it feels like we already know how to play them.”
