Classic Brazil-Argentina rivalry in opening day showdown

 

Betim, Brazil, October 14, 2016 - The opening day at the 2016 FIVB Volleyball Men's Club World Championship will treat fans to a classic of the Brazil-Argentina rivalry, as Minas Tenis Clube take on UPCN San Juan.

Brazilian and Argentine sides have clashed only twice in the history of the Men's Club World Championship. Sada Cruzeiro of Contagem beat UPCN San Juan in straight sets in 2013 in Betim, before the Argentines returned the favour in five sets in 2014 in Belo Horizonte.

Minas Tenis Clube
- Minas Tenis Clube are making their debut appearance in the FIVB Club World Championship.

UPCN San Juan
- UPCN San Juan are two-time bronze medallists (2014 and 2015) in the FIVB Club World Championship.
- The Argentine champions will be making their fourth appearance in the competition after competing for the first time in 2013.
- UPCN will be playing their 15th match in the history of the competition, where they hold an 8-6 win-lose record.
