Betim, Brazil, October 22, 2016 - One of the semifinals at Betim will be featured by Russia's Zenit Kazan and Italy's Diatec Trentino, the two same teams that played a fantastic European Champions League gold medal match last April in Poland.
Though that match went for Kazan in five dramatic sets, Trentino control the head-to-head record at Club World Champs, having won the three prior games between them, two of those also at semifinal stage - in 2011 and 2012 in Doha, Qatar.
- They hold a 13-9 as current win-loss record, with the remark that their last two defeats were on the hands of Sada Cruzeiro.
- Before that, Kazan had only lost against Italian or Polish clubs, such as Trentino, Skra Belchatow and Jastrzebski Wegiel.
Trentino Diatec
- On their seven participations at FIVB Men's Club World Championship, only one Trentino failed on reaching the semifinals. It was in 2014 in Belo Horizonte, where they finished 5th.
- The only time they lost at a semifinal game was in 2013 against Russia's Lokomotiv Novosibirsk. Before that, they defeated Kazan at the two upper mentioned years and also Iran's Paykan Tehran, in 2009 and 2010.
- Their overall record at the competition now stands at 28-3 on win-loss numbers.
