Dynamic duo Uchikov-Ramos stands out for UPCN win over Minas

Solid display from Bulgarian Nikolay Uchikov to lead UPCN with 12 points

Betim, Brazil, October 18, 2016 - Six-time Argentinean champions and 2015 World Championship bronze medallists, UPCN San Juan grabbed a key win at the 2016 FIVB Men’s Club World Championship in Betim as they subdued Minas Tenis Clube 3-0 (25-22, 25-18, 25-18).

Bulgarian opposite Nikolay Uchikov and middle-blocker Martín Ramos teamed up well for UPCN, uncorking 12 and 11 points respectively. Ramos was particularly solid in attack, scoring on 7 out of 8 spikes down the middle. Minas’ Yordan Bisset from Cuba led the scoring sheet of the game, with 13 shots.

First set was vital for the final outcome of the game, as both teams were leveled until the decisive track. Gustavao’s blocks were crucial for UPCN, as well as Minas’ unforced errors throughout the set, sealing the deal for the yellow side.

Minas took a hard hit after dropping the opener and UPCN made good use of that, giving more room to Uchikov and Ramos to widen their numbers.
